Tamarindo Boat Safari
Unveil the secrets of the mangroves and get up close with exotic wildlife in their natural habitat.
Las Baulas Estuary Tours is the website of the Asociación de Guías Turísticos Locales Tamarindo, the association of local tour guides of Tamarindo, Guanacaste.
We are local guides who work in the Tamarindo estuary and Las Baulas National Marine Park. When you book with us, you go out with a member of the association — a guide who knows the estuary, its mangroves and its wildlife.
The Tamarindo estuary is part of Las Baulas National Marine Park, a protected area of beaches, mangroves and estuaries named after the leatherback turtle (baula). The park's public-use rules allow kayaks in its estuaries and require visitors to follow the regulations — guides included.
Inside a national park, a good guide is the difference between a boat ride and understanding the place: where the crocodiles rest, which birds nest in the mangroves, how the tide changes the estuary, and how to visit without disturbing the wildlife. In Las Baulas, night visits to the leatherback nesting beach are only allowed with a local guide authorized by the Tempisque Conservation Area.
